Privacy Policy
- No accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies, and nothing to buy.
- With your permission, we count which games are played, for how long, and roughly where players are.
- That data stays in our own database. We never sell it or share it with advertisers.
This policy explains what PlaySyte.com ("PlaySyte", "we", "us") collects when you play our free browser games, how it is used, and the choices you have.
1. What we collect
You can play every game without creating an account or entering any personal information.
Only if you choose "Accept" on the consent banner
- An anonymous visitor ID. A random identifier stored in your browser's local storage so we can tell how many different people play, without knowing who they are.
- Pages you view on PlaySyte.
- Game sessions: which game you opened, a random ID for that visit, and how long the game was open and visible on your screen.
- Where you came from: the website that linked you here (for example, a search engine), reduced to its domain name.
- Approximate location: country, state/region and city, worked out from your IP address by our hosting provider's network. We store the location, not the IP address.
If you choose "Decline", or never choose, none of the above is collected.
Always, as part of running the site
- IP address and request details. Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address and basic technical information (such as your browser type) to deliver pages. When analytics is on, we also briefly keep IP addresses to stop abuse (rate limiting); these records are deleted automatically, typically within a day.
- Your consent choice is saved in your browser's local storage so we don't ask on every page.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when your browser requests them.
If you contact us
Our contact form doesn't send anything to our site: it opens an email in your own mail app. If you send it, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message, and use them only to read and reply to you. We keep emails only as long as needed to deal with your message.
2. Cookies and local storage
PlaySyte does not use advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage for two things only: your consent choice and, if you accept, the anonymous visitor ID. Some games may also save things like high scores or settings on your device. You can clear all of this at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
You can change your analytics choice whenever you like:
3. How we use it
- To see, in aggregate, which games people enjoy, how long they play, and where players come from, so we can decide what to improve or build next.
- To keep the site running, secure, and free of abuse.
We do not use this information to identify you, build advertising profiles, or make automated decisions about you.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your information. We use a small number of service providers to run the site:
- Vercel: website hosting and network (this is where approximate location comes from). Some games also run inside an embedded frame served from our own separate Vercel-hosted game apps.
- Supabase: the database that stores the game and page-view statistics described above.
- Google Fonts: web fonts.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and rights of PlaySyte and its players.
5. How long we keep it
Abuse-prevention records are deleted automatically, typically within a day. Game and page-view statistics are kept while they are useful for understanding how the games are played. You can ask us to delete data tied to your visitor ID at any time.
6. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to access or delete data associated with you, and you can withdraw your
analytics consent at any time with the "Privacy choices" button above. Because we don't know who you are,
including your visitor ID (found in your browser's local storage as sy_visitor) helps us find
your data.
EU and UK (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Our legal bases are your consent (for analytics) and our legitimate interests (keeping the site secure and running). You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
California (CCPA/CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing". We do not sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
7. Children
PlaySyte is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not ask players for names, emails, or other personal information, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security and international transfers
We use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Our providers may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as PlaySyte grows. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will make that clear on the site.
